We are seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC) to provide screening, brief interventions, individual and group therapy, and coordinate patient referrals. The role involves developing community resource contacts, acting as a liaison, and participating in service delivery planning with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care. Responsibilities include offering direct counseling, crisis intervention, education, assessments, and developing personalized care plans for patients with substance use issues. The counselor will also provide staff training on chemical dependency topics.

  • Qualified candidates must have Registered Intern status or certification from a California SUD certifying agency, a high school diploma or GED, and at least 1 year of counseling experience, preferably with diverse patient populations.
  • Additional requirements include CPR certification, ability to travel within San Diego County, and a valid Class C driver’s license with insurance. Bilingual English/Spanish skills and experience working with mental health or HIV populations are preferred.
